Mouchel’s innovative design of Hartsholme Academy saw the school crowned winner of the Community Benefit category at the Regional RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) Awards held on 19th April at the Belfry Hotel in Nottingham. The project was delivered through the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) Intermediate Projects Framework, which is available to public sector bodies across the region for schemes worth between £2m and £7.5m.

Design Council Endorses Off The Shelf School

The Design Council CABE has endorsed a Sunesis Keynes standardised school, which is one of the first to have been launched to the UK market.

Sunesis is a joint initiative between public sector construction procurement company Scape and leading contractor Willmott Dixon. There are plans to submit a further four models to undergo the same Design Council review process.

Construction Work Begins on new Records Archives in Matlock

Wates Construction has now begun work to deliver Derbyshire County Council’s new £4m records library on New Street in Matlock.

The contractor was joined on site by Cllr Andrew Lewer, Leader of Derbyshire County Council, and Strategic Director for Cultural and Community Services, Martin Malloy, to mark the start of the works. Peter Bignell of Scape also joined the ceremony on behalf of the Scape/East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework, through which the project was procured.
