Best Value
Scape, a Process to Deliver Best Value
Scape is a building system of technologies supported by a process to deliver
Best Value to the client.
Scape is owned by Local Authorities (CLASP Consortium) who use it for their own projects. The long established
process has refined Scape to deliver what the client wants.
Scape receives feedback from user groups on its performance in terms of cost, construction and in use. This information
is used to develop the details of the design in a cycle of investment and refinement.
By this means a flexible range of standard details, which are tried and tested, have been worked out to deliver value for money
for the client.
Life Cycle Costs
The CLASP system, the predecessor to Scape, has proved itself since its foundation
in 1957. A survey carried out amongst CLASP building owners showed that the buildings
are going to meet their 60-year design life.
The components are selected to minimise maintenance costs:
- Aluminium windows double glazed
- Thermal performance meet the regulations and can be improved if required.
- Details meet the acoustic performance standards of BB93.
- The steel for the frame is protected.
- The internal partitioning system is flexible
- Internal doors are factory finished
- Ironmongery is robust
- Components are from standard catalogues wherever possible.
The CLASP Consortium is concerned to support owners of CLASP and Scape buildings. It organises a Maintenance Study Group to ensure
the buildings are refurbished and maintained as effectively as possible.
